Redundancy is never far from the headlines and it is estimated that one in three of us are likely to experience it at some point in our working lives.

Redundancy is not the same thing as resignation which comes from the employee voluntarily; it doesn’t mean sacking either, which usually involves a serious mistake on the part of the employee.

So what is redundancy? Why are people made redundant? What does a redundancy package include?
