England came back from 2-0 down

England have been held to a draw 逼平 after surviving a major scare against Switzerland in their Euro 2012 qualifier at Wembley.

The home side were forced to come from two goals behind to earn a point.

England manager Fabio Capello's out-of-sorts 心神不佳的 side seemed to be heading for a damaging defeat and a heavy blow 沉重打击 to their hopes of reaching Poland and Ukraine next summer as Switzerland took command.

England were desperate for a lifeline 极其渴望一个救生索 before half time. Switzerland provided it after 37 minutes with a foul on Jack Wilshere, which resulted in a penalty scored by Frank Lampard.

Striker, Darren Bent, missed several chances to level the score 扳平比分。He revealed afterwards that Capello had reassured him about the misses:

"I'm a striker, all strikers miss chances and I'm sure when the next ones come along I'll bury them 坚决地、毫不手软地把它们拿下。

Wembley reacted with jeers 嘘声 at half-time - and Capello's response was to replace Lampard with Ashley Young. It took only six minutes for him to fire a low angled finish past Swiss keeper, Benaglio.

Fabio Capello blamed his side’s poor performance on fatigue 疲劳，疲乏。

"Some players arrived at the last 10 minutes without energy. In modern football if you can't press 紧追不放 it is difficult."

England have now gone four games without a win at Wembley, their longest sequence without a victory in 30 years.

They still have much work to do to reach Euro 2012 as they prepare for a testing 测试性的 trip to face Bulgaria in Sofia in September.
