R:And a library card is a wonderful thing to have when you're now to a town or even if you've lived there all your life,beacause libraries are not just for checking out books. I mean, now they offer everything. When i had little children we went there every week, it was our favorite trip. We would go and they have story telling for children with children's books; and they have movies now, and what else?
E:They have the internet, one of the good things about library now is that there are many coputers there. And you can look things up on the internet, also you can check not just your library, but all the different libraries in the states, because they are all on the net. If your library doesn't have the book, you can check in a library miles away and see if they have the book you want. So libraries are very popular places.
R:Even for adulits too. They have lecture series, and if you write a book, and you are an author, you might come and give a talk about your book or give a reading from your book, and people will come and in the evenings after work. It's very popular, i means, i love to go to libraries.
R:And i guess all of them work the same way they of here, audio books video books, anything you check out, then of course, the word "checkout" is to borrow. You have to return in a certain time period they will tell you at the checkout. And if you don't, you'll pay the penalty and if you lose it, which my children it and buy them a new book or video.
M: Are there any panalitie for late fees?
W:Yeah. Children's books are ten cent per day regular adult books are twenty cents per day.
M:And how about lost books?
W:We charge a five-dollar processing fee for lost books plus the cost of replacing the book.
