回忆我的快乐童年

  My happy childhood

For everyone, childhood is a particularly special t ime. As a 13 year old boy, Yin Zhongrui kept the detail s of his childhood in his diary. In 1996, Yin Zhongrui went to Britain with his parents to begin his study ove rseas.

Like many other newly arrived Chinese children, Zho ngrui experienced great difficulties in understanding E nglish. The community where his family lives is Yorkshi re, which provides him with a good English teacher, Nic k. Nick often asks Zhongrui to write or paint what he h as experienced each day. In this way, Zhongrui's Englis h progressed rapidly. At the same time, he began to kee p a diary in English.

The things bought in Britain always remind Zhongrui of his times there. During his study in Britain, he pro jected himself into the local society and without knowi ng, became accustomed to it. He even became a football player at his school. He is often praised by teachers f or his high scores.

When Zhongrui came back to China with his parents a fter Zhongrui's father finished his work in Britain, he was quite unwilling to say farewell to his classmates a nd teachers. At that-time, his Chinese was inferior to others, so he had to move down one grade.

With teachers' and classmates' help, Zhongrui has m ade great improvements in his Chinese. He has made many new friends and often plays with them.

When Yin Zhongrui came here, I didn't like to talk to him because of his poor Chinese. One day in the afte rnoon, we played a game together, he took a toy and did not want me to join the game. I did not feel good about this and when I came back home, I wrote a diary about m y feeling. My teacher let Zhong read the diary and Zhon g felt quite uneasy about this. He apologized to me for what he had done, believing that we ought to get on pro perly instead of arguing, and we became good friends ev er since that moment.

Childhood is enriched by all these treasured experi ences, which deeply impress Zhongrui. He hopes that one day his English diary might be published so that he cou ld share his feeling with friends, and ensure an everla sting friendship.
