You’d better:
In English‘you’d better’is a useful way of giving advice rather than directly telling someone.
It’s cold, you’d better put some more clothes on.天气有点冷,最好多穿点儿衣服。It’s late, you’d better go home.有点晚了,你该早点回家。
By adding‘or’to the second part of the sentence you can tell someone what will happen otherwise.
You’d better go now or you’ll be late.你该走了,要不该迟到了。
You’d better go to bed early or you won’t be able to get up in the morning.早点睡觉,要不然你明天就起不来了。
Next time you want to give a foreign friend advice you’d better use‘you’d better’.
