Breeders in the US are giving cows "boob jobs" to help them win bovine beauty pageants.
Unscrupulous owners are placing gas or liquid into cows' udders to make them bigger.
Some try to enhance the size of the udders by injecting them with isobutane gas or liquid silver protein to make them look less wrinkled.
But the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports on October 8 that University of Wisconsin-Madison veterinarians have developed a way to use ultrasound to reveal these implants.
Vet Robert O''Brien told the paper: "We think we could clean up the Miss America contest with the same technology."
Dairy farmers, such as Elmo Wendorf of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, welcome the move and want cheaters to be caught.
With a cow, size matters more for money than beauty because it reflects how much milk she''ll produce and the price she and her offspring can command.
