　　Over the years, the story of St. Nicholas spread1 around the world. In America, his name became Santa Claus. Later,2 American writer Washington Irving wrote about Santa Claus in a story. In it, Santa rode a wagon (运货马车) in the sky and dropped3 gifts down people's chimneys.
