The Tiesha Mountains, an offshoot of the Changbai Mountain Ranges, are located in Benxi, a city of Northeast China's Liaoning Province. The Benxi section of the 200-km Changbai Mountain Ranges, thrust themselves towards the sky, like a dragon holding its head high. This is the grotesque peaked Tiesha Mountains. With 9 peaks piercingsintosthe sky, Tiesha Mountains look like the tablets held before the breast by officials. There is a cave in the mountains with 8 scenic spots and according to the legend, it boasts with treasures. That is why it is named as eight-treasure-cloud-radiance Cave. Ups and down, Tiesha Mountains wind like a huge dragon; with unmatched beauty, it stands like a colourful phoenix. In the front, Bapan Ridges defense it as a screen. At the foot of the mountain,Taizi River flows around it. What a wonderful fairy land! It is recorded that at the end of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the eighth founder of the Taoist Longmen Sect Guo Shouzhen, crossed the sea from Moji, Shandong Province. He took the eight-treasure-cloud-radiance Cave as his hermitage. After 10 years of practicing austerities, he attained the Way finally. Then he travelled around, recruited disciples, preached doctrines and delivered all creatures from torment. This make the Tiesha Mountains the holy place of origin Taoism in northeast China. Great changes have taken place since then. Now Tiesha Mountain is one of the National Scenic and Historical Resorts, National Parks and the Culture Sites under State Protection of Liaoning Province. And it is also the placeswheresmillions of travellers enjoy themselves very much. |
