Paul Casey carded a 1-under-par 71 to win the final Benson and Hedges International Open by four strokes at The Belfry in England on Sunday.

　　The Englishman, a former collegiate star at Arizona State University, finished on 277, 11 under par. Padraig Harrington, who shared the overnight lead with Casey and Stephen Scahill of New Zealand, finished second after a closing 75 for 281.

　　Former British Open champion Paul Lawrie aced the 174-yard 7th with a 7-iron and his 69 gave him a share of third place with Scahill, who bogeyed the first two holes and finished with a 76, and Dutchman Rolf Muntz, who shot 72.

　　Defending champion Angel Cabrera of Argentina, one behind the leaders overnight, dropped back to a share of 7th place after a 78. Richard S. Johnson of Sweden set a course record with an eight-under-par 64, breaking the record Scahill had matched with his 65 on Saturday.

　　The 33-year-old event is being discontinued because of a British government ban on sponsorship of some sports events.

　　It was Casey's third win on the European Tour, second of this year after he took the ANZ Championship in February, and his first in England.

　　In Austin, Texas, Hale Irwin recovered from a front-nine mental meltdown at the Kinko's Classic to win his first Champions Tour title of the season with a birdie on the second playoff hole with Tom Watson.

　　Irwin and Watson both shot 1-over 73 in the final round on Sunday and finished at 8-under 208 after they both birdied the 18th hole of regulation, snapping what had been a four-way tie with Tom Kite and Bob Gilder.

　　Irwin and Watson both parred No 18 on the first playoff hole, but Watson nearly won it when his bunker shot for birdie lipped out. Then they headed back to the par-3 16th, the course's signature waterfall hole.

　　Watson's birdie attempt curled short about two inches out. Irwin then sank an 8-footer for the win.
