Virgin boss Richard Branson has bought an Australian island for his staff.The billionaire splashed out£2 million for Makepeace Island, in the Noosa river on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. He plans to turn the heart-shaped retreatsintosan eco-tourism site for all the staff employed at his Virginsgroupsto use. Branson described the venture as "a heartfelt thanks to the Virgin team." He currently has 25,000 employees. The 25 hectare island currently has a swimming pool and one timber house. Local council documents state that the island was originally called Pig Island. |
