With former US first lady Hillary Clinton's memoir selling 200,000 copies on the first day of sales in America, Nanjing-based Yilin Press said yesterday it has purchased the book's copyright and plans to publish a Chinese version this year. The publishing company also bought the copyright to former US president Bill Clinton's upcoming book, without releasing a publishing plan. Yilin Press paid 160,500 yuan (US,000) for the copyright of Hillary Clinton's autobiography, "Living History," much higher than the usual price of around US,000 for an autobiography, said Zhang Zude, director of Yilin Press. "Currently we are busy translating and designing the book," Zhang said. "We may invite Mrs Clinton to China for the book's promotion." Mrs Clinton is currently a US senator from New York. Zhang didn't reveal how much Yilin had spent on the former president's book, which hasn't been published in the US market, only saying that "the price was even higher than Hillary's." |
