On one of his periodic trips to remote parts of the Amazon to visit isolated indigenous tribes, Sydney Possuelo checks in with a band of Korubo that he first contacted in 1996. The band's number has remained constant since then. The only deaths have been those of children: An anaconda attacked one youngster while the group was bathing, and there have been three infanticides, a not uncommon practice among Amazonian tribes. The population of some tribes has decreased sharply after first contact with outsiders.
