　　As I held her small Chinese hand and started walking along the Xiamen beach line, she looked up at me, smiled and asked if I loved her.

　　I looked out at the beautiful green sea and the rushing waves, remembering one day so long ago that the mailman delivered her letter when I was in Canada at my university and noticed how she drew little hearts on the back of the envelope. I opened the letter immediately, noticing the picture inside, which was the first time I got to see her beautiful face. As I read her short English letter knowing I had never met her, I knew in my heart that she would be a big part of my life one day.

　　We started running down to the edge of the water, laughing like two young children. Yet I still kept my words to myself. I just thought about how I once saw my home in the streets of your palm, my destiny(命运) in the smiles of your promising future, and my shelter in the shadows of your eyes.

　　I treasure all your whispers under my pillow, your fragrance(芳香) in my breath, and your name in my ears. Your face still lightens up the sky in the night, your voice still rhymes with the rainfall, and your hair still softens the wind. The sun will always rise from the casement(眼眶) of your eyes. And then, one day in time you will fly away into someone else's world. That sun I hope will not vanish(消失).

　　Life is spending me now and I am aging into it. Days keep climbing the mountain of years. The moon drapes its face in the clouds and the night refuses to bring sleep onto my pillow.

　　Life runs like a wheel. The circle starts every morning and ends up late in the night, and then morning appears again. There is no pause, no rest, not even a slight curve to turn into change. My face has lived with me for many cold winters, and I know I will want to feel the warmth of your face. Bring the sunshine of your eyes to me.
