The beautiful weather we enjoyed over the weekend will disappear by the middle of the week as a cold front from the north will arrive in the city, dropping temperatures by some 10 degrees Celsius, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

　　Temperatures will remain relatively high for the first couple of days this week, with today's high expected to be 18 degrees, about the same as yesterday.

　　Today's low will slip to 12 degrees, 1 degree lower than yesterday, according to Cao Xiaogang, chief meteorologist for the bureau.

　　The start of the week will be sunny and dry, but the cold front should bring rain when it finally arrives in the city.By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to drop to around 6 to 7 degrees.

　　This week's average temperature should hover between 11 and 12 degrees, suggesting the official arrival of winter is not far off.

　　According to local meteorology, winter arrives after five consecutive days with a daily average temperature below 10 degrees. Last year, winter officially arrived in Shanghai on December 4.
