China's large- and medium-size industrial enterprises are expected to generate over 800 billion yuan (US$96.39 billion) in profits this year, up 240 billion yuan from 2002.

　　The comprehensive economic returns index of such enterprises reached 143.18 by the end of November, 13.95 points higher than the same period last year, while losses incurred in the sector fell by 1.9 percent to 100.4 billion yuan. China's petrochemical industry, with profits of 159.8 billion yuan from January to November, has become the most profitable industry in China.
