Bruins ride on Rolston's goal

  Brian Rolston scored on a rebound with 1:33 left on Tuesday night to give the Boston Bruins a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Thrashers, despite Dany Heatley's first goal since recovering from a car accident that killed teammate Dan Snyder.

  Heatley, playing in only his fourth game this season, scored 1:54 into the first period to give Atlanta a 1-0 lead.

  "It felt good," Heatley said of his goal. "It would have been better to get a win. But, I'm back in the scoring column."

  All-star center Joe Thornton scored a pair of goals for Boston, which has won four straight and is unbeaten in its last five. Glenn Murray added a goal and an assist.

  "We've got a lot of guys committed to doing the little things and the little things lead to the big things," Bruins coach Mike Sullivan said. "It's about holding everyone accountable and our players are buying into that."

  Elsewhere in the NHL on Tuesday night, Washington beat Tampa Bay 2-1, the New York Islanders defeated Vancouver 5-4 in OT, Chicago upset Toronto 4-1, New Jersey squeezed past Ottawa 2-1, Montreal knocked off Pittsburgh 4-3, Detroit dumped Nashville 4-1, Colorado weathered the Hurricanes 3-1, San Jose shot out Florida 3-0, and LA tied Calgary 4-4.

  In Uniondale, New York, Mariusz Czerkawski had a goal and two assists within 2:17 late in the third period and Adrian Aucoin capped New York's incredible comeback against Vancouver by scoring 36 seconds into overtime.

  The Islanders scored four goals in the final 3:51 to turn around a 3-1 deficit and win for the 19th time in 28 home games.

  The Canucks were 19-0 when leading after two periods.

  In Calgary, Alberta, Jarome Iginla scored three goals but Calgary squandered two two-goal leads and tied Los Angeles.

  Calgary was ahead 2-0 in the first period and 4-2 in the second, but the Kings rallied to tie it both times.

  Dean McAmmond also scored for Calgary. Eric Belanger, Esa Pirnes, Alexander Frolov, and Luc Robitaille had the goals for Los Angeles.

  In East Rutherford, New Jersey, Jeff Friesen scored with 6:13 left to give New Jersey its third win in four games against Ottawa this season.

  Sergei Brylin freed the puck in the corner to the right of goaltender Patrick Lalime and passed it to Jamie Langen-brunner, who fed a wide-open Friesen for a tap-in goal, his 12th goal of the season.

  In Pittsburgh, Niklas Sund-strom and Saku Koivu scored after Montreal squandered a two-goal lead and the Canadiens sent Pittsburgh to a club record-tying 11th consecutive loss.

  The Penguins, owners of a league-worst 11-36-5-3 record, will take two losing streaks into the All-Star break.

  Eric Meloche, Konstantin Koltsov and Rico Fata scored for the Penguins.

  In Toronto, Steve Sullivan, Nathan Dempsey and Bryan Berard scored against their former team, and Craig Anderson made 43 saves to lead Chicago over Toronto.

  Sullivan added two assists for the Blackhawks, winners of just two of their last 22 road games.

  Mikael Renberg scored the lone goal for the Maple Leafs.

  In Nashville, Tennessee, Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan and Kirk Maltby each scored goals as Detroit snapped Nashville's 11-game home unbeaten streak.

  Pavel Datsyuk added an empty-netter with 13.5 seconds remaining, his 25th goal this season. while Wyatt Smith scored in the second for Nashville.

  In Denver, David Aebischer stopped 36 shots as Colorado bounced back from a sluggish start to beat Carolina.

  Milan Hejduk, Steve Konowalchuk and Steve Moore scored while all-star Joe Sakic had two assists for Colorado, 5-0-2-1 its past eight games.

  In San Jose, California, Nils Ekman, Alyn McCauley and Marco Sturm each scored a goal, and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 26 shots to help San Jose beat Florida to avoid its first three-game losing streak.
