Jacob is Tom’s nephew. He is going on a date with his new girl-friend. He has bought her flowers but they are wilted. Tom talks to Jacob about what is most important when giving gifts. Tom: Hi Jacob. Where are you going? Jacob: I am going to the shopping mall. Tom: Are you going to see the new movie? Jacob: Yes, I’m going to take Sally, my new girlfriend. Tom: Is that why you have flowers in your hands? Jacob: Yes. I bought the flowers before school and left them in my locker. I’m afraid they are wilting. Tom: Oh yes, they look like they need water. Jacob: I’m afraid that she will be upset. Tom: It is the thought that counts. Jacob: I hope so. Tom: She will appreciate your effort as long as it comes from the heart. Jacob: What does that mean? Tom: What is inside your heart matters more than what gifts you buy for her. Jacob: Okay. I think that is very true. Tom: Have a nice time at the mall! |
