追逐偶像是青春一代的执着,然而并不是每一个人都如此…… Let me first come out and say thisI hate American Idol Canadian Idol Star Search Star Academie and the whole bloody lot of programs that bastardize music the way these shows do. I'm also not a big fan of boy bands girl bands or any band that is put together by a corporation doesn't play their own instruments and sings lyrics written by someone else. But that's probably only because I feel music is supposed to be more than entertainment - it's supposed to be art. Until now I've exercised a passive disregard for these programs but now this perversion(歪曲) of music is being brought right onto our campusand I suspect funded in part from my student levy(强求) in the form of the SFUO's "Campus Idol". And this quite frankly pisses me off. The justification for this event according to our illustrious VP Social is that it's an opportunity to appreciate "non-academic talent". Of all the non-academic talent cascading(倾泻) around this campus we're going to celebrate it with a goddamn karaoke machine and a rip-off of some money-making exhibitionist TV show? Please don't insult my intelligence. If this had anything to do with celebrating "non-academic" talent it would be about the arts and American Idol at all have nothing to do with art. Although I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised that people who want to celebrate a complete absence of creativity ie Campus Idol should lack creativity themselves. Needless to say I will not be supporting this event and I hope that in the future campus events will have a bit more authenticity(真实性) and not be mundane(单调,世俗的) rip-offs(窃取) of television programs.
