Peacekeepers Leave for Liberia |

Chinese peacekeeping troops for UN's peacekeeping mission in Liberia yesterday left two Chinese cities for the war-torn country in western Africa. Aboard the UN special planes, the 70-member advance team of an engineering group left Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, yesterday morning. The 35-member medical team left Fuzhou, provincial capital of east China's Fujian Province, yesterday afternoon. According to sources with China's Defense Ministry, the Chinese government will send 550 peacekeepers to Liberia, including a 240-staff transport company, a 275-member engineering team and 35 medical staffers for a UN hospital. |
