　　Can you imagine why we are so lucky to live in a Multi-Cultural society?

　　Many communities enjoy quite different lifestyles. But we must work to promote understanding and reduce the possibility of friction between groups in diverse societies.

　　One organization that works hard so that we can celebrate the values of all cultures is called WOMAD.

　　W.O.M.A.D. stands for World of Music, Arts and Dance. It brings some of the world’s wonderful artists and performers together at festivals all around the world. WOMAD understands the universal appeal of music and its ability to draw people together.

　　WOMAD began in 1982 and has hosted many events in countries around the world. At weekend long festivals families and children can join in many special events. Music and dance sessions are frequently hosted by visiting artists.

　　A multi-cultural society should respect, support and encourage ethnic diversity. Then we can all enjoy the benefits of a rich, diverse culture and learn something from each other. WOMAD has been successful in opposing racism by promoting aspects of our cultures that are welcomed and enjoyed by others.
