Authorities in Tongchuan, Shaanxi Province, have confirmed they discovered rat poison in pancakes that sent 74 people to hospital last Tuesday.

　　Sixty-nine people - 55 employees of the Chenjiashan Coal Mine, their family members and 14 high school students - are still hospitalized but in stable condition after treatment. Soon after the victims ate onion oil pancakes for breakfast at a canteen of the mine, five of them began to have fever and spasms. By 8pm that day, 74 people were reported ill. The canteen owner, Li Ailian, has been detained.
