Memory(记忆)

　　再过几天，驰名世界的音乐剧《猫》就要在北京上演了。这对英语爱好者是一大福音，因为歌剧吐字清晰，适合练习听力。《Memory》是《猫》中的一首经典歌曲，是老猫升天之前所唱。

　　Midnight: not a sound from the pavement./ Has the moon lost her memory?/ She is smiling alone in the lamplight./ The withered leaves collect at my feet/ and the wind begins to moan.

　　Memory: all alone in the moonlight./ I can smile at the old days./ I was beautiful then./ I remember a time I knew what happiness was./ Let the memory live again.

　　Every streetlamp seems to beat/ a fatalistic warning./ Someone mutters in the streetlamp gutters/ and soon it will be morning.
