　　Teacher John Wise and his wife Dorren who emigrated to Tasmania 12 years ago, decided to revisit England and see the world on the way — by motorcycle. After driving 10,000 miles overland without even a puncture, they arrived in England on June 17.

　　They left Tasmania in January and now plan to stay for two months at Taunton where Mr. Wise's mother lives.

　　Mr. Wise, 46, formerly science teacher at Askwith Secondary School in Taunton, and his wife, who have three daughters, went to Hobart, Tasmania in 1961.

　　For their return world trip, Mr. Wise took a year's unpaid leave.

　　“We didn't have any spare parts with us,” said Mr. Wise. “We just put our trust in ourselves and the machine.”

　　So far the journey on the motorcycle through Australia, New Zealand, Panama, Mexico, the United States and Europe had cost $250 each person.

　　Mr. and Mrs. Wise plan to return through Europe, Asia and India, another 14,000 miles. They expect their final bill to be about $1,000.

　　Meat and vegetables are measured in grams and kilograms. Milk and other liquid foods are measured in litres or milliliters. These units only measure quantity. They do not measure the value of the food to the body. The unit which measures the quality or value of food is the “calorie”. A calorie is the amount of heat given off by food when it burns. This measurement tells how much energy a certain food has when it is completely used by the body.

　　Our bodies use varying amount of calories. The more exercise we take, the more calories we burn. If we eat food which contains more calories than we use up, then it is possible that we would increase in weight.
