A 17th-century oil painting reportedly valued at 2 million euros (US$2.5 million) has been stolen from a hospital chapel in Madrid, Spain, according to a hospital official yesterday. The official declined to give details, but the newspaper El Mundo reported that the stolen piece of art was "The Miracle of Saint Leocadia" - painted between 1616 and 1619 by Seville-born artist Juan de Roelas, a priest whose work mainly depicted religious scenes. A security video shows a pair of men entering the 19th-century chapel and pulling down the work, slicing it from its frame, rolling it up and walking away with it.
