He Cheng is a national-level First Rate Painter, member of the Chinese Artists Association, member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association and of the Writer, [Forgive me, but what does 'member of ... the Writer' mean? Board Member of the Jiangsu Provincial Artists Association, Vice Director of the Arts Committee of Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Paintings. He is also Director of the Institute of Figure Painting and Research of Jiangsu Provincial Traditional Chinese Paintings, and member of the Jiangsu Provincial Assessment Committee of High Titles in Art Professions. He was listed as one of the "Ten Excellent Painters in Jiangsu" by the CPPCC in 2002.

　　His artistic works are mainly focused on the figure paintings of Chinese traditional paintings and he is also specialised in paintings of landscapes of mountains, water, flowers and birds and in calligraphy. His works have been sent to large provincial, national and international painting exhibitions many times. Among his works, the painting "A Train Supporting Agriculture Arrives at a Mountainous Village" was commented as an excellent piece of work at a National Art Exhibition in 1975. His painting "Miserable Lives of the Folks and Great Waves under the Pen" won the Third Prize at the National Second Youth Art Exhibition. His painting "The Songs at the Back of the Horse" won First Prize at "Grand Exhibition of the Chinese Traditional Paintings" in 1993. His painting "The Night Before" won the Golden Prize of the First Jiangsu Provincial Art Exhibition and it was selected to be included in the 9th National Art Exhibition; and his painting "Happy Fruit-Looking Festival" won the Golden Prize of the Provincial May 23 Exhibition and the National Excellent Prize.

　　Has held personal art exhibitions in Shandong, Shenzhen, Nanjing and Australia. An article entitled "The Oriental Enchanting Charm Sweeps over the Faces" and other special features were published in newspapers to introduce him and he won good appraisal from both spectators and readers. His works have been displayed in exhibitions in Japan, the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan.

He pays great attention to the morality of arts, personal morality quality and the comprehensive cultivation of poems, calligraphy and painting. He devotes himself to the exploration of figure painting and the subliming of the style. He is, indeed, an influential and famous Chinese painter.
