SPURRED on by the first-ever F1 Grand Prix race in Shanghai, Hugo Boss, a 20-year sponsor of West MacLaren Mercedes, one of the most successful teams on the international racing circuit, celebrated its 10th anniversary in China with a fashion show in Shanghai. The show previewed Hugo Boss' men's and women's collections for Spring/Summer 2005 and elaborated on the philosophy of the F1 race - speed, passion and fascination - in a relaxed and trendy way. On September 24, the eve of the formal opening of the racing event, numerous celebrities, Olympic champions, stars and media thronged a white tent set up by Hugo Boss at Shanghai's Pudong Binjiang Avenue, to witness the sensational fashion gala. This season for Hugo Boss is full of mix-it-up ideas: business-sporty, formal-casual, masculine-feminine. A sports influence runs through the collection, but softened with sensual fabrics, ultra-feminine pleats and ribbons, corsetry details and other lingerie influences. The natural look is a core theme of the season, with emphasis on cottons, lines and silk. This spirit is also explored through the mix of prints and stripes, while the new logo features prominently to reinforce the identity of the fast-growing Boss woman brand. For summer, slip dresses have a timeless appeal, reinforced by fabrics with a vintage feel. Washed and crumpled cotton, silk and linen contribute to a tone of ease and effortless femininity. Colours are inspired by water: lagoon turquoises and greens, poolside blues, and touches of rose and pink. The Hugo Boss collection is also a luxurious option for young men with an appreciation of high-quality menswear with a fashion touch. This season focuses on the two-button single-breasted jacket with narrow pants. Remember to choose a half-linen sports jacket to pair with white denim pants - or a short, ultra-soft suede jacket teamed with linen pants. By Lu Hong |
