WEIMAR, a classic town in Germany, is bathing in the glory of the title "European Cultural City" at the Sino-German Cultural Week in Anting, Jiading District. Its glory is being presented by new buildings in a German style, a project which was co-launched by Chinese and German partners to build a small German town in Shanghai. "This is the result of strenuous efforts made by more than 100 German designers, architects and engineers," said Jin Jianzhong, director of Jiading District. A Sino-German Cultural Week in Weimar last year, resulted from the project being launched with four young Weimar architects being involved in the design. "Although the friendship between the two towns has not lasted very long, both have been closely connected by the project," Weimar Mayor Stefan Wolf said. Weimar has sent a government delegation to Shanghai to discuss further co-operation, Wolf said. The two sides initiated preparations for a project to create a Shanghai Institute of Bauhaus University at Anting. "This will become a long-term base for co-operation between the German State of Thuringia, the Bauhaus University and Shanghai," said Arnulf Wulff, director of the International Department of LEG in Thuringia State.
