Art from food-a delicious idea ALTHOUGH contemporary art is said to have many different tastes, nobody seems to have tasted it as a kind of cookery. This gap was filled November 26, when an experimental project named "Night Snack" was carried out by a group of artists in Shanghai. Artists were invited to make dishes as a form of art. The products include fruit, fried rice, dumplings, spring onions, chicken, frog and eel. A young artist, Liu Bing, covered a boy's almost naked body with many fruits such as apples, bananas and oranges. This work is called "The Human Plate" and the audience was invited to take and eat the fruits. Chen Lifan, an artist who lived abroad for 10 years cooked "Paella with Saffron" for his audiences. He hawked his product loudly, claiming that the dish had special effects, enhancing people's sexual ability. The dish turned out to be very popular, but eaters didn't admit to feeling any effects afterward. Ren Ming |
