BEA Systems Inc, the world's leading application infrastructure software company, opened its first technical conference - BEA eWorld China 2004 - in Shanghai on December 16. The conference, with the theme of "Future Built on BEA", was expected to share advanced technology ideas and the latest products with attendees. More than 3,000 IT industry decision-makers, senior executives and technology developers, as well as government officials attended the conference. The event featured daily keynote addresses from industry luminaries and more than 60 technical seminars. Alfred Chuang, founder and CEO of BEA Systems addressed the opening session, making suggestions on how enterprises in the new economic environment could strengthen competition by implementing new and innovative technology strategies based on service-oriented architecture (SOA). After setting up their first R&D centre outside the US in Beijing last year, BEA transferred all the R&D work on its main products to China to localize technical support and expand in the Chinese market. "Transferring software products to China is not everything. Carrying out simultaneous R&D is our pressing task," said Xiong Guang, general manager of the Chinese R&D centre for BEA. "The high level technology conference held in Shanghai indicates BEA's emphasis on development in China," Chuang said. (Star News) |
