Greg Maddux struck out 10 in his best outing of the season, and Corey Patterson hit two solo homers to lead the Chicago Cubs over the visiting New York Mets 7-0 on Tuesday. In Cincinnati, Sean Casey drove in three runs with a pair of doubles, and the Reds besieged bullpen ended a long stretch of miserable performances by preserving a victory over San Diego. Ken Griffey Jr went 0-for-4, ending his 13-game hitting streak. In Milwaukee, Brady Clark ignited a four-run sixth inning with his third hit of the game as the Brewers rallied past Philadelphia. In Denver, Johnny Estrada's two-run double sparked a six-run first inning for Atlanta, which snapped Colorado's two-game winning streak. Estrada, Ryan Langerhans, Raul Mondesi and pitcher John Thomson all had two-out RBIs in the first against Jason Jennings (1-4) to help Atlanta build the big lead en route to its sixth win in seven games. In St Louis, Choi Hee-seop hit a go-ahead, three-run homer after he withstood a collision that forced Scott Rolen from the game with a sprained left shoulder in Los Angeles' victory over the Cardinals. In Phoenix, Troy Glaus brought Arizona from behind with a three-run homer in the sixth inning, and the Diamondbacks snapped their 10-game losing streak against the Washington franchise. In Boston, Kevin Millar homered off Octavio Dotel on a 2-2 pitch with one out in the ninth inning to give the Red Sox a victory over the Oakland Athletics. In New York, Tino Martinez homered for the fourth consecutive game, a two-run drive that helped the Yankees beat Seattle and extend a regular-season winning streak to four for the first time since September. Wang Chien-ming (1-1) got his first major league victory as New York overcame a two-run deficit.
