　　1、问：< limingyan@163.com >有这样一道选择题：①Frankly speaking， I’d rather you___anything about it for the time being. A)have done B)haven’t done C)don’t do D)didn’t do 所给正确答案是D)，但我不太清楚为什么，请解释。

　　答：本题测试的是would rather的常用习惯表达法。这在初、中级的水平测试，如四、六级统考、研究生入学考试等中时有出现，是常见的命题内容。would rather意为：“宁愿，宁可”( used to say that you would prefer to do or have one thing rather than another thing ), 表示选择或意愿，其用法之一是后接that(常可省略)引导的宾语从句，从句谓语动词须用虚拟过去式(did)，意为：“真希望……”。如:② I’d rather you didn’t take those important documents with you. ③ I would much rather it was forgotten. ④He would rather (that) you didn’t do that for the time being.

　　把I’d rather that...或He’d rather (that)...作为句型来记忆，若表示现在或将来的意愿，宾语从句的谓语动词须用一般过去时，如上述例句。若要表示与过去的事实相反的意愿，那么that从句的谓语动词则须用过去完成时(had done) 。如：⑤ I’d rather (that) you had been present.

　　记住：...would rather that...句型中，从句谓语动词不可用现在时或将来时。

　　2、问：< chenshao4017@yahoo.com.cn > 我和一个外国朋友看电影时经常听见他说：“It sucks！”我想请教一下这句话的意思，还有suck在这里的用法。

　　答：It sucks！(这电影太糟了！)

　　句中的suck是不及物动词，其意为：“令人生厌，讨嫌，令人极不愉快”(to be very bad, very annoying, to be very bad or unpleasant in quality)，是俚语、粗话，尤其多用于美国英语，并只用现在时态。

　　如：①The job sucks!(这工作真烦人！)②Her acting sucks!③My mum says I have to clean the garage. That sucks.④ If your job really sucks, leave it.当然，主语也可以是人。如：⑤He sucks!(他这人真讨厌！)
