　　如果你喜欢旅游，尤其是有那么一点冒险精神的话，那么今天的内容就是为你量身打造的。爱情风光片The Beach中的主人公平时沉迷于网络，突然有那么一天，他想到真实的世界去走一把，于是他选中了泰国的人间天堂———海滩(The Beach)。到了那个地方之后，奇怪的事情和人接踵而至。那么究竟发生了什么呢？让我们一起来看这段对话学习几个俚语。

　　—My name is Richard, so what else do you need to know? Stuff about my family or where I’m from? None of that matters. Not once you cross the ocean and cut yourself loose, looking for something more beautiful, something more exciting and yes, I admit something more dangerous after 18 hours in the back of an airplane, three dump movies, two plastic meals, six beers and absolutely no sleep, I finally touched down in Bangkok.

　　—Hey, how about you? You want to go to the waterfall? Cheap for you, come on.

　　—Hey, you need somewhere to stay?

　　—I’ll be fine. I’ll find my own place, thanks.

　　—What do you want, man?

　　—And this is it, Bangkok, good time city, gateway to Southeast Asia where dollars and Deutsch marks get turned into counterfeit watches and genuine scars.

　　—You wanna drink snake blood?

　　—Wait a minute. Did you say snake blood?

　　—Yeah.

　　—No, thanks.

　　—What is wrong with snake blood.

　　—I just don’t like the idea.

　　—Or maybe you scared? Afraid of something new?

　　—No, I just don’t like the idea, that’s all.

　　—Ha ha! Like every tourist, you are all the same just like America.

　　—So never refuse an invitation. Never resist the unfamiliar. Never fall to be polite.

　　—(Gentlemen, that was excellent.) Never outstay your welcome, just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, it’s probably worth it.

　　———我叫里查德，你们还想知道什么？我的家庭情况，是哪里人，这些都无关紧要。越过大海，将自己从烦嚣中解脱出来，去欣赏美不胜收的景物，感受从未有过的激情。当然，我得说这一切充满危险。在飞机上的十八个小时中，我看了三部乏味的电影，吃了两顿份饭，喝了六瓶啤酒，一点觉都没睡，终于降落到了曼谷。

　　———嘿，你怎么样？想去看瀑布吗？来吧。给你便宜点。

　　———嘿，需要找地方住吗？

　　———不用，我有地方住。谢谢。

　　———你想要什么，老兄？

　　———就是这里，曼谷，消遣的城市，进入东南亚的大门。将你的美元或德国的马克变成假名牌表和真正的伤疤。

　　———想喝蛇血吗？

　　———等一下，你是说蛇的血？

　　———对。

　　———不，谢谢。

　　———蛇的血怎么了？

　　———我只是不喜欢这样。

　　———哦，也许你害怕了，害怕新鲜事物？

　　———不，我只是不喜欢这个主意。

　　———哈哈！游客都是这样，希望万无一失，像在美国一样。

　　———永远不要拒绝邀请。永远不要排斥不熟悉的东西。永远不要失礼。

　　———(先生们，这东西太棒了。)坐客永远不要屁股太沉，你要做的就是让身心全部敞开。即使有痛苦也是值得的。

　　上述片段中有一个句型：“None of that matters.”当你想表示什么东西对你重要还是不重要的时候，用动词“matter”，对你重要“matter to you”，不重要“not matter to you”。

　　例句1：你的意见对我很重要。

　　Your opinion really matters to me.

　　例句2：你对我很重要。

　　You matter to me.

　　“不重要”还可表示为：“It doesn’t matter.”

　　片段中还出现了一个短语“counterfeit watches and genuine scars”，中文意思是：“假名牌表和真正的伤疤”。假的东西我们称作“counterfeit”。例如：假币、假钱“counterfeit money”。Counterfeit的对立面是真的，如果是真的钱“genuine money”。

　　真皮：genuine leather

　　真手表：genuine watches

　　再补充其他两个词。形容爱情真，我们要用true，true love。如果是形容友情，我们俩是真的朋友，不是酒肉朋友，要用real，real friend。

　　片段的最后：“...just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, it’s probably worth it.”中文意思是：“……只要你敞开心扉，去体验新的生活和经历。哪怕有所疼痛都是值得的。”

　　说“某物是否值得”用单词worth来表达，worth其后可跟名词、动名词。

　　例句1：Tibet is definitely worth seeing. 西藏绝对值得一去。

　　例句2：This car isn’t worth the money you paid for it. 你买的那辆车不值这么多钱。
