Rich dad, poor dad (2006-2007学年第33期) 在线收听: By Geoff Lemon Murray and Mitch are on the plane returning to studies in Beijing. Mitch: Hey, Murray. Did you read that article about our boy “Jared Kushner?” Murray: What...that baloney about how “simple son-of-a millionaire makes good in real-estate,” — while studying at Harvard? That one? I don’t care much for that stuff. Mitch: Why? This is a young guy like us who has made a handy amount of cash... Murray:Look... this is not a rags-to-riches story. Anyway, he is not like us. Mitch: You don’t think this kind of thing could happen in China? Murray:Of course it COULD happen. China is a land of enormous opportunity. But what do you think are your chances? The ground isn’t exactly paved with gold ya know. Mitch: What do you mean? Murray: Well, big money will always make big money — that’s what it’s good at. The fact is, it requires Capital — or at least a very good idea — and lottsa luck! Mitch: Oh, you think Kushner was blessed with just luck when he bought those investment properties? Murray: More than luck — he had the Capital backing in the first place and no doubt some excellent “inside” advice. And by the way — where did that money come from — I think it can be no small coincidence that his big-daddy real-estate tycoon father is “on the inside” himself. Mitch: Oh, you think his fathers’ jail term is behind this. Murray: Well, it’s like this. Wouldn’t you want your kids to succeed? I mean, he and his brother both own media titles. Dad has been generous with his presents. This is no ordinary family. Mitch: Now you’ve disappointed me. I thought that this guy had made some smart moves and got a good break. Murray: The best break young Jared ever had was being born to wealthy parents. Fortunately he is not a dummy, and Harvard Business School has got to have helped in learning his deal-making skills. Mitch: Well, that’s the way of the world then, isn’t it? It all depends on where you are born and what color your skin is. Murray:No, Mitch. I don’t think it’s quite that simplistic. But being in the right place at the right time, recognizing opportunities, and having the courage to act, are all important qualifiers for success. Of course a healthy dose of good luck is probably the single most important thing. Mitch: Hmm... Luck you say. How is one to get that? Murray: Well, it’s probably a combination of all the other things. My suggestion is: Graduate, take a job, marshall your funds, and keep your eye out for opportunities for small gain at low risk. As you progress you’ll soon gain skill in recognizing business opportunities. The main thing is to participate. You can’t expect to win if you’re not in the race.
