　　Learned to swim at age four. Took up gymnastics in Zigong Spare-time Sports School at nine. Began platform diving training after being spotted by a diving coach in the school. Chosen by the Sichuan provincial team in 1980. Joined the national team for intensified training in 1985 and shifted to springboard diving.

Still more important is her highly competitive character, which made her stick at nothing in any circumstances, whether in training or in competitions. As the only woman diver breaking the 600-point barrier, she fully deserved the title "Diving Queen."

　　1986年 第5届世界游泳锦标赛上夺得跳板跳水冠军，成为世界锦标赛历史上的最高分，并与队友合作夺得女团冠军

　　1986年 在原民主德国国际跳水赛、加拿大杯国际跳水赛中力挫群雄，荣登冠军宝座

　　1987年 在第5届世界杯跳水赛中，再夺跳板跳水金牌

　　1988年 在第24届奥运会上，以580.23分的绝对优势获得跳板跳水金牌，实现了“三连冠”，并成为我国第一位奥运会跳
