Hello, everyone! I’m Wu Gou, from Liaoning Province. In the Liaoning Province competition, I won the first place. I’m very glad to be standing here in Beijing. Today I will tell you a little funny story.

A long time ago, there were three travelers; their name was Don, Wayne and Warren. Their ship sank in the Pacific Ocean. They found a small deserted island and lived there, but they missed their home very much.

So, they tried a lot of ways to let some other people to save them, like sending bottles, leaving messages… but no one came.

One day, Wayne found another bottle on the beach, he told the other two to come, and they opened it. Then a genie jumped out of the bottle! He said: “Wow, what a RELIEF! I’ve been in that bottle for 10,000 years! Finally I’m out! You saved me; you will have one wish each.”

“Well, I wanna be sent home immediately!” said Warren. Then he disappeared.

Wayne said: “Well, me too!” and he disappeared too.

At last, it was Don’s turn. “Gee, I’m not so sure… Suddenly I felt so lonely without Wayne and Warren, I wish they’re here to talk with.” he said.

So they are all back on the island again, and the genie went away.

  Warren

  Wayne

  Speech

One day, while I was listening to music in my dad's car, suddenly I heard a piece of wonderful music. "What is it?" I asked dad. "It's a piece of classical music by Beethoven, one of his piano concertos," replied Dad. While I was listening, a new and fantastic world began to unfold before me, and it has continued to fascinate me ever since. After that, I tried to listen to a lot more classics attentively, I realize that classical music was really good and I can’t help liking it.

Now I'd like to share with you my understanding of the difference between classical music and pop music. Pop music can be exciting, but classical music can convey more with its solemnity, elegance, harmony and meaningfulness. While listening, your heart will be pounding and vibrating with the music, and emerging in front of your eyes, may be a world of happiness, sadness or even anger. It's really an enjoyment listening to classical music.

Scientists once did an interesting experiment. They grew tomatoes in two greenhouses, each with a CD-player inside. Classical music was played in one and pop music in the other. It was surprising that the tomatoes listening to classical music grew much faster.

All of my family are fans of classical music now, and in my heart, I have a dream of becoming a great conductor when I grow up. I cherish it. I think it will come true someday. Isn’t it goanna be cool?

  This is me

  Hello, everyone,

My name is Wu Gou(吴钩), perhaps you’ll think it’s strange—isn’t it a kind of knife for fighting used in ancient China, you might think? Absolutely! That’s what my names means!

There’s a strange coincidence about my birthday, too. My birthday in the lunar calendar is on April 18th, and the founder of Buddhism, Sakyamuni, was also born on this day! I’m very happy about this. It’s amazing, isn’t it?

I’m 10 years old now and I have been able to help my parents translate some English that they didn’t understand since I was five. I’m their little translator!

And I’m a classical music fan. Although I can never be a great man like Sakyamuni, I wanna be a conductor, as famous as Leonard Bernstein, conducting many famous orchestras! That’s cool, isn’t it?

  This is me.

  Thank you.
