Almost half of US workers do not respect their boss and only halfbelieve they are competent, according to an online survey released onFriday。

The study by Randstad USA, a unit of the world’s numbertwo staffing company Randstad NV, found that the growing financialcrisis has seen companies focusing more on their bottom line at theexpense of relations with employees。

"Employees’ professionaldevelopment and morale should always be a priority for employers andespecially in an economic slowdown when employees may feel additionalburdens," said Randstad director Eric Buntin。

"When it comes to impressing the boss to create more job securityduring hard times of economic uncertainty, the survey indicates womenare willing to work harder," Buntin said. "A healthy employee-employerrelationship greatly contributes to an overall positive workplaceattitude."

The survey was carried out by Harris Interactive. Datawas weighted to be representative of the total US population based onregion, age, gender, education, household, income, and race。
