BBC主持人为“中国人吃猫论”道歉

　　According to the Daily Telegraph on November 22, Judi Spiers, 57, was forced to apologize after the "distasteful" gaffe on her BBC Radio Devon morning show。

　　The veteran presenter was discussing a book about Casper the cat, who shot to fame after it emerged, he regularly made an 11-mile bus trip from his home in Plymouth, Devon. But she shocked some listeners when she questioned whether the Chinese ''eat cats'' while discussing Casper's antics。

　　One listener, who did not want to be named, said, ''I couldn't believe it – one minute she was talking about the book and then suddenly she said the Chinese eat cats. It was a very strange and surprising thing to say and I'm sure some people would have been offended.''

　　Half an hour later the presenter apologized on air: ''Earlier in the program, I made a comment about Casper the cat which some of you may have found offensive. I would like to apologize if you found the comment distasteful. Obviously I did not mean to offend.''

　　Spiers has presented the show on Radio Devon since 2005 and also hosted a Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio Two between 1994 and 1998. A BBC spokesman said, ''Judi meant no offence and apologized on air very shortly after the comments were made.''

　　斯皮尔自2005年就开始主持(BBC)电台德文郡分台一档节目，在2004年至2008年间，她还主持BBC二台一档“周六下午谈话”节目。BBC一名发言人说：“朱蒂无意冒犯，并在发表言论后立即通过广播表示道歉。”
