Their marriage came to a sudden halt on March 22, 1958 after Todd was killed at the age of 48, along with journalist Art Cohn, in a horrific crash when his private plane went down in a blizzard just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The plane's ironic name was 'The Lucky Liz.' Before Todd's sudden death, the married couple had a daughter, art sculptor Liza Todd Burton, born on Aug. 6, 1957.
