　　China let out a collective sigh of relief as Zhou Kehua, a fugitive suspected of killing nine in armed robberies since 2004, died in a shootout with police in Chongqing Tuesday morning。

　　Yet, when looking back, the country has seen a number of other alarmingly violent villains whose crimes sent cold shivers down people's spines。

　　8年来制造苏湘渝系列杀人案的犯罪嫌疑人周克华于8月14日早晨在重庆被击毙，很多人都因此松了一口气。

　　周克华毙命后，媒体都给其冠上了中国第一悍匪之名。然而，在网络上一直流传的中国十大悍匪排名，一看便觉穷凶极恶之人太多，甚至有人杀48人仍未惊醒，只觉其在“为民除害”；甚至还有至今未破的奇案，一刀专毙警察命，成呼兰人一大恐惧……

　　今天，就让我们一起盘点一下新中国成立以来国内十大悍匪的恶行。

　龙治民

　　In May 1985, Long Zhimin, a farmer from Yangyuhe Town in Shangluo City, Sha'anxi Province, was found to have committed the most horrific crimes since 1949. He had killed 48 people at his home and had buried their corpses in three pits he had dug in his courtyard. He robbed the victims of a total of 573 yuan (US$195). After he was discovered and caught, he was still never found to be mentally ill. The man and his wife Yan Shuxia were executed in September, 1985.

　　上世纪80年代，陕西商州农民龙治民制造了新中国成立以来最大的个人恶性杀人案，其先后杀害48人，并将48具尸体埋在他家院子里！

　　龙治民埋人所用的坑，不少还是他请人挖的，他自己懒得动手。别人问他为何要挖坑，他或者说“挖萝卜窖”，或者说“打猪圈”。

东北二王

　　Wang Zongfang (right) and his younger brother Wang Zongwei were China's first criminals to have a reward on their heads, in this case the sum of 2,000 yuan or US$1,021.

　　Wang Zongwei, formerly a soldier in Inner Mongolia, used a gun they had taken from a prison in 1976 to kill four people and injure another three when they were caught stealing from a local hospital in Shenyang, Liaoning Province on Feb. 12, 1983.

　　The brothers then fled from North China to the country's central and southern regions, killing more people along the way. When they were shot dead in Guangchang County, Jiangxi Province on Sept.18, 1983, they had taken more than 20 lives, including those of policemen as well as normal citizens。

　　“东北二王”指的是沈阳兄弟王宗坊和王宗玮。1983年，从大年三十在沈阳枪杀4人开始，7个月内，王宗玮兄弟两人全国流窜，残害干警群众20余人。

　　当年5月，悬赏2000元的通缉令一夜间贴满大街小巷，这是中国人首次看见悬赏通缉令。奖金从最初设计的“5000元”改为“最高2000元”。

　　“二王”后来在江西被发现，警方活捉了王宗玮，击毙了其兄弟。

白宝山

　　Bai Baoshan, known as one of China's most cold-blooded villains, killed 15 people, including soldiers and policemen, and managed to injure another 15 between March 1996 and August 1997. Bai, born in 1958 in Xushui County, Hebei Province, was sentenced to 14 years in jail for robbery, stealing and assault in 1983 when he was only 26.

　　After being released one year early in 1996, He then set out to revenge himself at what he believed to be an unfair society, grabbing soldiers' guns and taking lives while robbing and stealing。

　　On August 19, 1997, Bai and his accomplice Wu Ziming stole 1.4 million yuan (US$168,900) and killed seven people in Urumqi, Xinjiang. He later shot Wu dead, smashed his head in and then burned the corpse. He even thought of getting rid of his mistress. Bai later revealed that he beaten two inmates to death with a hammer when he was still serving time in Xinjiang. He was detained by police on Sept. 5, 1997 and executed in April 1998.
