HONGKONG- As Hongkong Internet users recover from the chaos caused by the“Love Bug”computer virus, many are being hit with a hoax e-mail warning of another virus that supposedly destroys their machine instantly. The e-mail says opening a message headed“Lets watch TV”will lead to erasure of all information on their hard drive by a virus called“Kali”, after the Hindu goddess of destruction. The message is at least the fourth hoax e-mail received in Hongkong in the past two months.
IBM's Hongkong office says it is up to consumers to halt the circulation of nuisance messages. The latest virus message follows one circulating last month that tricked recipients into believing they would get a free top-of-the-line Ericsson mobile phone if they forwarded a message to twenty friends.CAPTIONMoko(left) plays an alpenhorn and Piko a bugle at Yokohamas Hakkeijima Sea Paradise Aquarium.
