英语分句衔接与连贯:逗号十二剑法下

  所谓逗号十二剑法,指的就是分句之间的如何衔接与连贯问题。句式的复杂多变要求一篇作文中既要有简单句、并列句又要有复合句甚至复杂复合句。要构造句子结构的复杂多变就必须讲究分句之间的衔接与连贯问题。逗号十二剑法实质就是逗号后(前)分句间衔接与连贯的十二种技巧。为形象起见,美其名曰“逗号十二剑法”。如下,跨考教育[微博]汪婵娟老师为大家一一点化。

  第七剑法: 平行并列结构的使用

  例1  Studies serve for delight, for ornament and, for ability。

  例2  They flip back and forth between different tasks, wrestle with vast quantities of information, and face multiple demands that may require different documents and other supporting materials。

  例3  The solution, according to OSU researchers, is a computer system that tracks what you were doing on each of your tasks, what you were using to accomplish those tasks, where you were when you were interrupted, and even what you may need to do next。

  例4  In order to grow, to travel new roads, people need to have a willingness to take risks, to confront the unknown, and to accept the possibility that they may “fail” at first.

  第八剑法:

  例1 More specifically, two windows, so to speak, of opportunity appear to be opening。

  例2  Confident of the justice of their cause, they agreed to put their case before the arbitration panel。
