　　One or Two?　　　一还是二

　　Customer: Waiter, I've only got one piece of meat in my dish.

　　Waiter: Just a moment, sir and I'll cut it in two.

　　顾客：服务员，我盘子里怎么只有一块肉？

　　服务员：先生，请稍候，我去把它切成两块。

　　Is Mary's Answer Right? 　 玛莉的回答对吗？

　　Teacher: Mary, can you name four animals of the cat family?

　　Mary: Mother cat , father cat, and two kittens.

　　老师：玛莉，你能说出猫科动物家族中的四种吗？

　　玛莉：猫妈妈，猫爸爸，还有两只小猫。

　　Don't Want to Be the First One

　　我不想当第一个

　　Bobby: Dad, I'm too tired to do my homework.

　　Dad: Now, my boy ,hard work never killed anyone yet.

　　Bobby: Well, I don't want to run the risk of being the first.

　　博比：爸爸，我太累了，不想做功课。

　　爸爸：孩子，刻苦学习以前可没有杀死过人呀。

　　博比：嗯，那我可不想冒险当第一个人。

　　An Interesting Man　 一位有趣儿的男人

　　Big man in a theatre, to a small boy sitting behind him： Can you see, sonny?

　　Boy : No, sir, not at all.

　　Big man: Then just watch me and laugh when I do.

　　大个男人：(在剧院里对坐在身后的一个小男孩说)小家伙，你看得见吗？

　　男孩：看不见，先生，一点儿也看不见。

　　大个男人：那你就看着我，我笑的时候跟我一起笑吧。

　　A Dead Fly 　一只死苍蝇

　　Mr. Smith: Waiter, there's a dead fly in my soup.

　　Waiter: Yes, sir, I know---it's the heat that kills it.

　　史密斯先生：服务员，我的汤里有一只死苍蝇。

　　服务员：是的，先生，我知道了，它是被烫死的。

　　Grapes and Bananas　 葡萄和香蕉

　　Tommy; Dad, what are four grapes and three grapes?

　　Dad: 　Don't you know simple arithmetic?Haven't you done a problem like

　　that before?

　　Tommy: No, Dad, we always use bananas at school.

　　汤米：爸爸，四粒葡萄加三粒葡萄等于多少？

　　爸爸：你难道连这么简单的算术题都不知道吗？以前你没有做这类似这样的

　　问题吗？

　　汤米：做过，爸爸，不过在学校我们总是用香蕉来计算的。
