奥运金牌是银做的?奥运金牌是银做的?

  据了解,伦敦奥运会的金牌含金量为1.6%,其余成分主要为银。每块金牌除了镀金外,其余93%的成分是银,剩下则是铜。

The saying “all that glitters is not gold” could apply to the2012 Olympic Gold medal.

In fact, only about one percent of the gold medal is made fromreal gold. The rest is mostly other metals。

A whopping 93 percent of the “gold” medal is actually made ofsilver. The rest is copper. Whether the gold medal is “fool’sgold” is in the eye of the beholder.

If melted down, the raw materials in today’s market wouldfetch about 650 dollars。

The silver medal — which is mostly made of silver — is worthabout half that. The bronze medal is mostly copper.

That’s worth less than 500 pennies. But ask any athlete:Winning an Olympic medal is priceless。
