　　The Saxion Universities are located in the east of the Netherlands on two campuses in the old Dutch cities of Deventer and Enschede. They have a student population of approximately 17000 of which 1000 are international students, following both Bachelor and Masterprogrammes in 19 different pathways. International programmes are taught in English and comprise both business and technical studies. A Dutch Bachelor or Master degree is recognised throughout the world and will enable graduates to seek employment in their home country or many other countries across the globe.

　　The East Netherlands and the adjoining German borderlands are developing towards an area with tremendous growth potential constructed on a powerful knowledge economy and regional self-confidence. In this development zone, the Saxion Universities of Professional Education have strong ties with German partner institutions, with which they have intensive cooperation, as well as maintaining their partnerships on a global scale with institutions around the world in Asia, Africa and America.

　　The Universities were formed from two traditional Dutch "Polytechnics" recently. The cities of Deventer and Enschede are no more than 65 km apart and have a good intercity rail connection.

　　The philosophy of Saxion Universities is to offer education in small groups. The building in Deventer for example has only four big college rooms. Instead, there are many facilities to study in small groups. For individual assignments, there are many computers available. Individual coaching has won oversgroupsteaching.

　　The atmosphere is friendly, Saxion Universities wants their students not only to enjoy a good education, but also have the best time. In the buildings you will find shops, the corridors are sprinkled with coffeecorners and in Enschede there even is a theatre and an espressobar. The campuses have sporting facilities.
