13 Jan. 1955 Dear Mr Fou, I received your most wonderful letter of Dec.28 this morning, as well as your letter of Sept. a long whileago....If you only know how and what I felt when …… It seems almost incredible to me when you say that Ts'ong does eight hours of practcing every day. I neverdid more than six a day, even in my best and most fruitful years. I sincerely hope this nervous strain he is going through will not in the least affect his physical health. Please tell him, that he should have hours of relaxation too. Besides, in more cases, the mental and nervous strain of a sensitive performer brought its sad and verytragic results, (in case of Horowitz and others). I shall conclude my letter with my sincerest wish to Ts'ong of a great success in his big trial next month. As Feb.22 is Chopin's birthday (as well as mine!), I am positively sure, that Ts'ong will play in memory of this great soul as he never did before. Our good luck to him! All my thoughts will be with Ts'ong on that day.
