Institution Description

The University was founded in 1956 as a private post-graduate college, which became fully funded by the government in 1983 and acquired university status and title in 1994. Committed to the provision of quality whole-person education, HKBU enrolls about 5,500 students and offers 26 undergraduate programs with 39 options or concentrations, 25 taught postgraduate courses, and research programs leading to the award of MPhil or PhD through its six academic faculties/schools: Arts, Business, Chinese Medicine, Communication, Science and Social Sciences. Putting dual emphasis on teaching and research, the University has established more than 20 research centers under its faculties and schools to nurture excellence in selected research areas.
