　　NIKKY: well, I feel ok.

　　BRIAN: good! Then u’re ready.

　　NIKKY: yes, I am ready, u r a perfect date guy.

　　BRIAN: tell me about ur article, do u finish it? (告诉我你的文章吧，写完了么？)

　　NIKKY: I still need some further investigation(需要进一步调查), everyone in US is talking about it.

　　BRIAN: just like Enron. (就像安然公司一样。)

　　【注】我们今天看到的越来越多的美国公司丑闻，已经不再感到惊讶！

　　NIKKY: this one is bigger now.

　　BRIAN: bigger?

　　NIKKY: yes, Worldcom is too important to just pull the plug.

　　【注】什么叫“pull the plug”，一开始，由于我的孤陋寡闻，这个词组还真没有遇到过，大致意思上是说世界通信公司是个大公司，如果出现问题，对整个美国都意味着非同一般。

　　BRIAN: all I know about that company is, it’s an internet company. (我只知道该公司是一家网络公司)

　　NIKKY: yes, they carry so much of the internet traffic that the internet would come to a halt. (是的，他们承载的网络交通很大，如果出现问题的话，将使英特网停滞。)

　　BRIAN: could u just tell me what is going on with that company?

　　NIKKY: well, they hided BILLIONS in losses, which is a huge mistake. (他们隐瞒十几亿美元的损失，这是一个巨大的错误。)

　　BRIAN: do u buy that company? (你买了这个公司的股票么？)

　　NIKKY: unfortunately, yes, but just a little.

　　BRIAN: will it be into bankruptcy? (会破产么？)

　　【注】美国企业的财务报表，几乎到了不造假就不行的地步。因为管理、经营毕竟值得称道的，但市场竞争的激烈和充分，使企业的利润空间变的越来越小，企业在透明、公正的竞争环境下要获得“超额”的利润，几乎不太可能。所以最终通过财务报表做假，然后在放大到资本市场，以谋取暴利。
