英译汉是大学英语四级考试的题型之一。它不仅考查考生的英文水平，也检查其汉语水平；不仅能了解考生是否真正理解了文章，也能考查考生的汉语表达能力。

　　不少考生在备考过程中反映同位语从句的翻译较难，感觉无从下手。针对这种情况，本文拟谈一下同位语从句的翻译技巧，以期对广大考生有所帮助。一般来说，我们可以通过如下几种方式进行翻译：

　　(一) 把同位语从句译成独立的句子，由冒号或破折号引出。例如：

　　One month later, Einstein put forward another theory that matter and energy were not completely different. 一个月后，爱因斯坦提出了另一种理论：物质和能量并非完全不同。

　　There arose the question where we could get the loan. 问题产生了：我们到哪里弄到贷款。

　　(二)先翻译主句，然后用"就是……"或者"即……"引导出同位语从句。例如：

　　An agreement was never reached for the simple reason that neither side wants to give in. 协议没有达成的原因很简单，那就是双方都不让步。

　　This does not alter the fact that that is, from a practical point view, a best solution. 这改变不了这样一个事实，即从实用的观点来看，那是个最好的解决方案。

　　(三)把同位语从句翻译成由主谓词组充当定语，放在先行词前面。例如：

　　Don't cherish the illusion that your father will always support you financially. 不要在心中存着你父亲永远会在资金方面支持你的幻想。

　　The hypothesis was made that one's thought was to some extent controlled by the language he speaks. 有人提出了一个人的思想从某种程度上受他所讲语言限制的假说。

　　(四)把同位语从句修饰的名词转译成动词，而把同位语从句译成宾语。例如：

　　He expressed the hope that he could visit our city again. 他希望他能再次访问我们城市。

　　Experts said the new study is one more evidence that physical exercise can reduce iron in human body. 专家们说，新的研究又一次证明体育锻炼会引起人体内含铁量的降低。

　　(五) 先把同位语从句中的内容翻译出来，在后面用"这"或"那"等代词复指它，参加句子主体的构成。例如：

　　The dictum that the style is the man is known to most of us. 文如其人，这句名言是我们大多数人都熟悉的。

　　The statement that most people are for this proposal is confirmed by a survey conducted recently. 多数人支持这项提议，这种说法从最近做的一项调查中得到证实。

　　练习： 翻译下列含有同位语从句的句子。

　　1) The rummor that he releases the news is groundless.

　　2) He got a message from the director that the meeting would have to be cancelled.

　　3) Finally, Einstein arrived at a conclusion that maximum speed in the universe is that of light.

　　4) He made a suggestion that they vote for the Republican candidate.

　　5) This is a universally accepted principle that the internal affairs of a country should not be interfered in.

　　参考答案:

　　1) 他泄露消息的谣传是毫无根据的。

　　2) 他从主任那儿得到一个消息：会议将不得不被取消。

　　3) 最终，爱因斯坦得出了一个结论，那就是宇宙中的最大速度为光速。

　　4) 他建议所有的人都选举共和党候选人。

　　5) 一个国家的内政不得被干涉，这是人们都接受的准则。
