Thanksgiving Day is the most traditional holiday of America. It’s always celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. The first Thanksgiving Day was held in Massachusetts in 1621 after the first harvest by the Pilgrims in their new land. The Pilgrims wanted to give thanks to God for their first harvest. They invited their Indian friends to join them in a big feast. The day has been celebrated since that time. The main dishes for Thanksgiving Day are turkey and pumpkin pie. The custom lapsed at various times before the Civil War but it was officially revived by Lincoln in 1863. Today Thanksgiving Day is not only a day to give thanks but also a day for family members to get together. |
Thanksgiving Day 感恩节 |
