据《南方都市报》报道，武广高铁上新增了“超员凳”，乘务员将在列车上分发这种凳子给购买无座票的乘客使用。铁路相关工作人员透露，新增加的“超员凳”为塑料折叠椅，打开后可变成小圆凳，不用时可折叠堆放储存在列车专门存放位。

　　在上面的报道中，“超员凳”就是folding seats for passengers with standing-room-only tickets，也就是专为购买站票的乘客提供的凳子。Folding seat或folding chair/stool就是“折叠椅”。“站票”或“无座票”就是standing-room-only ticket。

　　在Spring Festival travel(春运)期间经常出现一票难求的情况，有不少人买不到seat ticket(坐票)，只能买站票，train attendants(乘务员)向他们分发“超员凳”是为了让买站票的乘客在旅途中舒适一些。
